Cape Point is a promontory at the south-east corner of the Cape Peninsula, which is a mountainous and very scenic landform that runs north-south for about thirty kilometres at the extreme southwestern tip of the African continent in the Republic of South Africa. Table Mountain and the city of Cape Town are close to the northern extremity of the same peninsula. The cape is located at 34°21'26''S, 18°29'51''E, about 2.3 kilometres (1.4 mi) east and a little north of the Cape of Good Hope on the south-west corner.^ Although these two rocky and beautiful capes are very well-known, neither cape is actually the southernmost point in Africa; that is Cape Agulhas, approximately 150 kilometres (90 mi) to the south-east. The new Lighthouse

after realising the lighthouse was set too low over the sea, the new lighthouse was built much higher on the cliffs - with better results.... BTW here you can see the Two Ocians, the Atlantic to the left and the Indian Ocian to the right - at least for the people who believe the two ocians coming together at Cape Point. Others say the Two Ocians is at Cape Agulhas which is the southern most tip of South Africa.

This is the most south-western point in Africa. This is to express that although there is one more cape somewhere else in Africa which reaches further to the south, this (actually, the Cape of Good Hope) is the most famous.. (BTW I haven't been that far, but it should be possible to reach the lighthouse by foot.)

The whole area around Cape Point is beautiful. I remember to feel the ocean around more intensively than elsewhere, and the light seems also somewhat more intense. Is it the salt in the air ? Or just travel excitement ?
