Camrose, a small Canadian city, is situated in Central Alberta, amidst some of the richest farmland in the prairies. It is a relatively small city which originally grew up along a railroad and now grows along Highway 13. Camrose is a scenic city with many parks, leading to its moniker "The Rose City". Camrose offers a relaxed lifestyle with a large population of retirees.

I returned back to my old high school scouting covered locations for a recent grad photo shoot. I was near the entrance to the trades area and noticed the nice stone work would make an interesting texture contrast. I set opened up my 50 to get some nice bokeh on the left side. It wasn't until a week later, that I noticed all the little faces drawn on the individual rocks. Looking back on my high school experience, I wonder how many faces in the crowd I missed, too self-absorbed in the micro-dramas of each and every day. Makes my want to do it all over again, the right way.

Most of the things I learned in High School seem pretty abstract, so there is some irony here. Comp is what we called Camrose Composite School when were were growing up. Its not as if there was some great choice as to which school to go, as the City only had the one. This shot is one of the archway supports of the school with the brick in the background. I returned to my hometown to shoot grad portraits for a lovely young woman. This will keep me busy most of the week.

This is one of the oldest houses in Camrose. Some say it was built on the site of the very first homestead in the area by the original pioneers. Calendars indicate it was occupied as recent as ten years ago. While it is near the city of Camrose, likely within the city limits, it is part of an old rural farmstead.

Mirror Lake swans have been known to be a little aggressive, but I placed this lovely couple quickly in the frame, lined up my light, and was quite pleased with the result. 50 mm focal length iso 100 f/4.0 1/250sec 430 EXII camera right in 43 shoot through umbrella, fired by pocketwizard tt1/tt5 combo

These storms were building on the Thursday of the Big Valley Jamboree country music festival in Camrose, Alberta. By the Saturday, they turned deadly, as an afternoon storm blew the main stage over, killing one person and injuring many others.
