Presence
Made by BlueLeaf
I want to do some more work with cars in car parks like this. I've seen a few around Flickr - some in HDR (which I have no idea how to make) and some like this. Things to work on in the future: Take the shot with the car further away from the camera. Although there's plenty of car-park atmosphere here, the reason Dave's car is so close is because there are other vehicles both to the right and to the left. Better shots can be had in an empty car-park; where you can achieve both fabulous depth, possibility of vanishing-point features in longer car parks and create more atmosphere. Work with bigger cars. This shot works because it's a small car, but close up. With bigger vehicles you can build a much bigger presence whilst working in a larger space; photographing this car in a much larger, more empty car park, I think would drown out the subject, without major cropping. Make sure the car's clean. Dave's car wasn't, and it took changing the contrast and darkening the image to lose some of the grime along the bottom sills. Use a tripod. This shot is blurred! I had my tripod with me, too. I don't know why I didn't bother using it. Dave's photostream can be found
