Caernarfon (the original Welsh spelling is now almost always used in preference to the anglicised forms, "Caernarvon" or "Carnarvon") is a royal town in north-west Wales.
- Caernarfon Castle , - an impressive work began in 1283 by England's King Edward I as his planned seat of power in his attempt to subjugate Wales. Like , this castle was quite functional, although never 100% completed.
- The site of the Roman fort at Segontium.
- Galeri is a creative arts centre overlooking the Afon Menai, a minute or two by foot from the town walls. It has a bar, cafe and restaurant, art exhibition, hosts concerts, films and events and is packed with small arty companies.
- Caernarfon is probably the best place in the world to see, hear and speak the Welsh language. Over 80% of the population speak Welsh, so it is an ideal place to practice a few sentances or just to soak up the authentic Celtic heritage.

Caernarfon Castle's construction commenced in 1283 and reached something like its current state in 1323. It was never completed, and even today there are joints visible in several places on the internal walls ready to accept further walls which were never built. Contemporary records note that the castle's construction cost some £22,000 – an enormous sum at the time, equivalent to more than a year's income for the royal treasury. The castle's linear design is sophisticated by comparison with earlier British castles, and the walls are said to have been modelled on those of Constantinople.

King Edward intended this castle to be a royal residence and seat of government for north Wales. The castle's symbolic status was emphasized when Edward made sure that his son, the first English Prince of Wales, was born here in 1284. In 1969, the castle gained worldwide fame as the setting for the investiture of HRH Prince Charles as Prince of Wales. The castle was further invaded between the years of 1974 and 1990 by a boy named Carl (aka Me :p), who on many occassions used to play hide and seek in the towers as he grew up in Caernarfon.

Taken at the old cemetery in Caernarfon looking towards llanbeblig church. On one hand it's such a shame that the cemetary goes unmaintained year after year, but on the other it adds a certain someting to images taken there.
