Celine Dion

Celine Dion
Made by Dimitri P.
An emotional Celine Dion accompanied by her husband Rene Angelil, During a Press conference on December 7 2005 in Montreal Canada, announced that The Growing Up Healthy Campaign For the Sainte-Justine Hospital Foundation Raised CAD$125 million. The campaign was launched in December 2002 and aimed to raise M$100. Rene and Celine are the godparents of the campaign. (Photo Dimitri / QuebecPress.com) Personal Note: Covering a Celine Dion takes some negotiating skills. Her bodyguards are all over the place, and they simply don't care if the photojournalists THEY invited drop dead. They are extremely rude, they stand in front of us and see everybody as a threat. They ended cramming up 120 photographers in a perimeter of 5 meters by 5. Each usable shot we got of her was a miracle! I'M WONDERING, WHAT was this body language move she did to me? Anyhow, I snapped the shot, but I guess that Celine was trying to tell me something! Could it be that she fell in love with me? Hah, wishful dreamer!

Self-Portrait for the 24 hours of Flickr - by Sol Lang

Let’s face it. Flickr means the world to me. I mean that literally. I have been an artist for all of my life and have shown my work in galleries as well as had it printed in certain publications, but in only two years (this coming June) on Flickr, my work will have been viewed one million times. That’s 1,000,000. For me, Flickr has brought new meaning to the art of photography and indeed to the internet as a whole. So it is with great pleasure that I celebrate this day of 24 hours of Flickr, with Flickr and its community. My world-community. In this self-portrait, I am seen in the comfort of my home enjoying art all around me with many of my own works on the table. I raise a cup (of coffee, early Saturday morning) and say “here is to you Flickr! Thank you for two wonderfully creative years!” To see more of my work please do visit my website sollang.com

sooc, disposable -- it’s quiet and it feels like the world’s asleep, but it’s only seven thirty in the afternoon. if it weren’t so damn cloudy and gray, the sun would still be shining and kissing my skin. now the wind tickles the trees and one foot steps in front of the other, moving me forward, bringing me back to that place i’m supposed to call home. i wish i were blind so i wouldn’t see all the ugly, i wish i were deaf so the ambulance sirens would stop ringing in my ears. i’m a selfish child and right now the world is too quiet to distract me from my thoughts. thunder roars a million miles away and my heart feels like it’s about to bust open in fear, in hatred, in love. so sick, so insane. i am that feeling you get when something’s gone horribly wrong. left foot right foot, let the rain wash away our faults and forget about yesterday.

282/365 - 10/09/2010 Today we played tourist and visited Mount Royal Park. I was here before many many years ago, but not since I moved to Montreal. We were really looking for the part of the park that overlooks the city, but ended up spending quite some time walking around in this area and had a bite to eat and some beer in the Beaver Lake Pavilion (seen in the distance). Leaves something to look forward to next time I guess! It was also an excellent time to play around with the new Canon, which I must admit, outperformed my Olympus DSLR in many shots. Yay? I'd also like to wish Flickr friend a very Happy Birthday. Even though we've never met, I can tell he's a wonderful person, quite a character and an exceptional photographer (despite being a Libra, hehehe!) Minor cropping and clarity boost in Lightroom

EXPLORED! #467 Ok, I know this isn't crazy good or super photographical or anything, but this picture means the world to me. I went to see my favorite band, Marianas Trench, on the 20th of October and it was such an amazing show. I waited in line for seven hours just so I could get a good spot, right up front.. They are so incredibly talented and they're all so kind! I brought a disposable to the show and this is my favorite of all the pictures I took. I'm really falling in love with disposable cameras, I love how cheap they are and the anticipation to get them developped. P.S: I am more in love with this band than I have ever been with anyone or anything else. The rest are in the comments. listen please, I adore this song. sooc, obviously

Jonathan Livingston Seagull, written by Richard Bach, is a fable in novella form about a seagull learning about life and flight, and a homily about self-perfection. The secret, Chiang says, is to begin by knowing that you have already arrived... You've got to understand that a seagull is an unlimited idea of freedom, an image of the Great Gull. He realizes that you have to be true to yourself. higher plane of existence. Keep working on love. If you like this pic, please vote at ngm.nationalgeographic.com/your-shot/daily-dozen Orbiter Dictum: Exposed for 4 secs at F/8 (my DSC-H1's smallest aperture). The lady on the right is not a reflection - she's actually on the other side of the leaving train. These two ladies were waiting on either side, letting several trains pass. I was planning to shoot at the Jazz Festival but a summer storm kept me rEined in... Not bad for a rainy evening, I guess :)

Kelli with Attitude

Everyone has a personality. But a photo model needs to have it show clearly through photographs. This can come naturally for some, but more often than not it is learned and practiced. That’s what separates the pros from the amateurs. Although much of the work falls on the photographers lap, a model with the ability to perform can help make the photographer’s task much easier. Kelli is such a model. The moment she gets on the set, her gestures come to life - both body and facial. Sensually erotic with attitude. View it large.

Pushed into cross-processing

Pushed into cross-processing
Made by marianna - too busy to shoot :-(
I got pushed by Lee to a try my hand at cross processing. Not my favourite style (which is why I got pushed into it), but here it is: a composite of 3 (hand held) shots taken from the exact same place, cross processed to death in Photoshop CS4 in so many layers and modes I can't even begin to describe it. Lee's response to the same push challenge is very cool and very different, check it out: flic.kr/p/ai1tWt AND - since there was major sliding in this one, Happy Sliders Sunday to you all too!

there were explosions in the sky, you see. there were sparkles and glitter and boom boom boom. colors were flying and our eardrums shook. there was a party in the sky, and we were not invited. we sat back and watched the magic happen. we watched with both eyes wide open, and we smiled. we smiled for the first time in a long time, because we were witnessing a miracle. we didn't want it to end. we wanted to stand there forever, watching sparkles fly high above our heads, disappearing before we ever got the chance to say hello.

Sometimes in life we get so caught up in the every day things that we forget the simple, enjoyable things. Take today for example... We got up early, we had breakfast and coffee, then basically right out the door for groceries. The streets were packed, grocery store busy, sidewalks crammed...really frustrating. I couldn't wait to come home and just relax. I love these little cape gooseberries, so tasty and they are stunning to look at. Remember, sometimes it's better to simply take the world in. Breathe.

Came home, put it on the counter and gave it a long look… Explore #1 on Sunday, July 27, 2008 Explore Front Page Hey, Flickr is not a restaurant and this is not a menu… its an image. Good, bad, interesting or not. When you like a macro of an insect or a cat, does it mean you will eat it? Some images are strong and brings up emotions… is this a mark of a good photograph? Many thanks for all your comments.

Day Two. {Explored #32} Today was one of those days where I felt like life is a stupid staircase and I'm not going up or down, I'm just hanging there. And hanging in between steps? It totally sucks. My friend Michelle and I went to the Cimetiere Notre-Dame-Des-Neiges this morning to take pictures. It was overcast and cold, and then it was rainy and cold. Michelle was my glorified tripod for this shot.

Oratoire St-Joseph entrance in Montreal during Blue Hour
Made by Jonathan Grenier
Even though I've been living in this city all my life (30 years), this was my first real visit to the city's well known Oratoire St-Joseph. It's a beautiful place. I was planning a multiple exposure shot of this view and this was the last exposure I took expecting it to be a waste of time (4 minutes, +4 EV). It ended up being my favorite shot and I decided not to go with HDR in the end.

It was actually just before sunrise… so maybe its night :) Shot yesterday morning with a Canon EF 70-200mm f 4L IS USM and a Canon EF 1.4x II Extender mounted on my favorite Manfrotto tripod. Some sharpening and colour tint. It was chilly on the lake at -4 centigrade and no gloves.
