Hidden by trees, this stone angel is among the few that have not been destroyed by vandals at Balmoral Cemetery (AKA Morningside), Brisbane. . I am appalled by the mindless vandalism against these historic monuments. So many have been utterly annihilated. It's not so much the 'disrespect for the dead' that enrages me (though that's bad enough) but the disrespect for vintage public art. Modern headstones just don't seem to cut it aesthetically, IMHO. And somehow, the papers always manage to blame 'Satanists', though the most likely culprits are drunken yobs from 'good' homes.
