This is the day of the 60th anniversary of the King's Accension to the Throne. The King was born on a Monday, Monday's colour is yellow (all the days of the week have a colour in Thai traditions), so the Royal colour in yellow, so there have been lots and lots of Thais getting around in bright yellow. Pretty much every Thai person was wearing a yellow t-shirt on the actual anniversary (the day of this photo), and they've all generally been going crazy for yellow.
