Knearl School- Brush CO

nrhp- Built in 1911, the school primarily offered classes in grades one through three. It served the needs of immigrant families, first Germans from Russia and then Hispanos, who worked the extensive sugar beet fields around Brush. The oldest surviving school in Brush, it operated for 61 years until school consolidation forced its closure. The school typifies many small, early 20th century civic buildings with its simple design, symmetrical classical massing, and utilitarian space planning resulting in a dignified and functional structure. The Knearl School now houses the Brush Area Museum and Cultural Center. In 1994, a gift of $100,000 from the estate of Ada Cooper allowed the museum board to restore the school and achieve the designation of a historical landmark. from brushcolo.com

The Lyons Club of Brush, Colorado host the Annual 4th of July Pancake Breakfast. They serve a huge crowd of people in a systematic and orderly fashion. They have been doing this for so long that it is almost down to a science for them. It is one of their main money making projects, and the community enjoys it and backs them to the ;fullest'.

The Emerson Theatre was opened in 1916 by Charles W. Emerson on Clayton Street at Edison Street in Brush, Colorado. Today known as the Sands Theatre, it continues to operate as a movie house over 90 years after first opening its doors. Some of these places have been saved since the crack of dawn. Curb side seats are highly prized for the 4th of July PArade in Brush, Colorado on account of the huge amounts of candy that is tossed from the floats to the crowd, and the fact that the fire trucks have a habit of practicing their accuracy at jeering kids.

It was not too long ago that the Rodeo Clown was also a Bull Fighter, that helped protect the Bull Riders. Now the Rodeo Clown is an act unto theirselves and a filler for down time between rodeo events. This guy performed at the 4th of July Parade at Brush, Colorado.

Everything about this entry was just above the average. The Corvette Power Plant was snuggled neatly within the confines of a revamped '32 Ford Coupe body that Ford Never dreamed could be so beautiful. And, Oh, Yeah. The Interior was just spectacular, also.

The kids arm theirselves with water guns and try to get the firemen wet, but guess who has the most fun. Don't take your toddlers to the Brush, Colorado 4th of July Parade and set them on the curb line. They and the grandparents are going to get wet.

Several Commercial Floats were entered in the 4th of July Parade at Brush, Colorado. This Commercial Sized Manure Spreader looks like it would do the job, but the Manufacturer won't stand behind their product while in operation.

Your intrepid reporter demonstrates the scale of these blades. I believe I paced this out and they were about 60 yards long. If I'm right about that, these are part of wind turbines rated at 2 megawatts or more for power output.

Hot Air Balloons Have Always Been A Fascination To Me. I Have Probably Taken Over 2,000 photos at the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, and I still can't resist taking more. This One Is Just Pretty special, I think.

Had lunch at this cafe Acapulco Bay and it was excellent. The service and the food were both very good. There were sandbags outside the door ready to exclude more flooding which had been caused by excessive rain.

As A Senior in High School, I Had A Pink & Black '55 Ford Victoria with Fiesta Hub Caps. This one was a Crown Vick in Pink & White With A Continental Kit. Sharp & Brought Back A Lot Of Memories.

The Interior of this Show Car was contoured in a European Flair with Inlaid Leather that complimented the exquisite copper gold paint job. It was just simply an ouitstanding work of art, in and out.

The eight balloons were launched across the street from the picnic area and campground in Brush, Colorado. Today they drifted to the Northeast, then upon gaining altitude drifted Southeast.
