Brown Country SP
Made by pjern
Brown County state park Oct 2006 Lessons: Spectacular scenery always helps. This was a 1 second exposure in a flay, gray, dawn light. The softness and smoothness of the light brought the colors into stunning contrast. Compositionally, the photo is a little bit of a mess. The road leads the eye out-of-frame, but the brightly-colored mass of the orange maple tree helps pull it back. The open field on the left of the road lends a little mystery for the thinking observer: What's down that hill?

Fall colors @ Brown County State Park
Made by Niraj Desai
Fall colors were in full bloom at Brown County State Park. While not as impressive as those in New England, it offered a breathtaking view nonetheless. I have been going to the park regularly since the past one year, have never seen it so crowded. It was the perfect weather to catch the beautiful colors. Must view large

Fall Memories
Made by rthustler1
Remember lying under a tree in fall listening to the wind whisper thru the trees..., cool crisp air, the rustle of leaves as you walk thru them. the smell of apple cider homemade apple butter pumpkin bread pumpkin pie peach cobbler , children playing in a pile of leaves. a cup of hot choclate while sitting on the porch.

Who says Indiana is flat?
Made by MiniLaura
We climbed to the top of that hill on our hike. Not quite the same as hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park, but not exactly the leisurely stroll I was expecting either. Looks like a perfect day, but it was hot and humid. Luckily, the park is very close to Nashville, IN and its many ice cream shops.

Snake
Made by MiniLaura
We saw this snake on the trail near the Rally campground in Brown County State Park. I have no idea what kind of snake it is. I lightened this photo quite a bit so that you can see its markings. The head/neck area is sort of flared out. Anyone know what it is? Inquiring minds want to know!

mushrooms, don't say mushrooms!
Made by alibree
(The title is in honor of my cousin, it's a long story) These mushrooms were found along a path we hiked this weekend. it looked as if the trail was littered with orange peels. These particular mushrooms were the largest I found, the color was amazing.

Bright Spots Everywhere

I'm homesick and miss seeing the great color display of the turning of the leaves in Southern Indiana and Southern Illinois so here are some shots from the last time I was there at that season. Hope you will enjoy them. Thanks for sharing time with me.

Brown County Vista

Brown County State Park in Indiana is one of the best places in America to take in the fall colors. The hilliest location in the state, the park offers dozens of breath-taking views of the hillside. It's one of my favorite places.

Couple Sheltered
Made by inneri
My sister & her future husband took a moment to look out at an overlook tower shelter, during a hike in Indiana. Now having them married and happily expecting a first child, this photo proved to be a beautiful foreshadowing.

Wedding Flutist 2
Made by Louis Moga
A flutist who was playing at the wedding in Bloomington, his music was very pretty. He has this interesting bagpipe-like thing that you pump with your right elbow. I asked him what it was called but have since forgotten.

Beaver art
Made by MiniLaura
Beavers have been hard at work along the banks of Ogle Lake in Brown County State Park. I wonder why the beavers changed where they were working on this tree. If you look at the biggie size, you can see the teeth marks!

Portrait #2 (_KVG8263)

For this portrait our instructor showed us the difference - using a simple light reflector. The combination of the sun from behind and the reflection off the reflector in the front helped enhance the face.

Eastern Gray Squirrel
Made by jghphoto21
I came accross this guy enjoying an acorn in Brown County State Park (Nashville, Indiana) while I was hiking through the park with my camera. I liked the lines of the limbs and, of course, the squirrel.

Ogle Lake in the Morning
Made by jsrcyclist
This was taken the morning after our hike. I overslept, so I couldn't get the really early light, and there was a big haze... but I think it worked. There are many more shots of this lake to come.

The Colour Orange
Made by INDelight Photography
This cool tortoise was found on a trail at Brown County State park whilst we were out geocaching near Ogle Lake. I have never seen an orange tortoise before. Goes well with the shirt.

Big boy in watch tower
Made by INDelight Photography
Breaking news: Big Boy sighted in Brown County Park. Unknown if he is spying on park goers or playing monkey in the middle. Rumour is that he shouted, come and get it if you dare!

We visited Brown County State Park last weekend, and took a family picture in the same spot we did back in 1999. The kids are a little bigger, while Kelly and I look much the same.
