Taken for : Solitude What it took: My sister willing to model, a lot of sadness to channel due to losing our grandfather last week, late afternoon sun and an empty corner of the still-frozen playground. Post-processing: Added a little bit of vignette to draw the eye to Susan and to tone down the bright sun in the bottom right.

Graffiti created during the House of Paint event under Dunbar Bridge. One of the few legal graffiti walls in Ottawa. I am fascinated by all the possibilities these artist are capable of creating by using spray-paint. There is something truly unique about graffiti, I can't quite explain--well except for the fact that most of it is illegal.

Under the Dunbar Bridge, Bronson Avenue at Brewer's Park in Ottawa, there is a project ongoing that I didn't know about. A legal place for graffiti artists to do their thing legally, in the kind of location that they tend to use anyway. I think this is a fantastic idea. I just wish more of it was art rather than tags.

Taken at a speed-skating competition across from Carleton U. I had originally meant to make these two (this one.. and ) into a diptych but.... my feeble attempt was unsuccessful... Any ideas to make an easy one?... maybe a photoshop plug-in of a sort... More to come :)

Furby of Borg lands on Carleton University

The darned Furby kept twisting around as John held him, and I only had this thin wedge of university I could see between a telephone pole and a softball fence. I loved the idea on this shot, but execution proved to be too annoying to get anything better than this.

Oct. 23, 2010, 9:07 a.m. Running along the west side of the Rideau River at Bronson Avenue brings you to a large underpass. It has ample space for graffiti artists and taggers. This green lady is looking somewhat wistful. is other artwork at this location.

Sept. 4, 2010, 8:20 a.m. Here's another tunnel (overpass) that runners use to go under busy roads. This one under Bronson Avenue Bridge (correct name: G. Dunbar Bridge) is huge. It presents a wonderful mural opportunity for graffiti artists.

Graffiti created during the House of Paint event under Dunbar Bridge. One of the few legal graffiti walls in Ottawa by Crazy Apes Crew. My fave graffiti there. I have an obsession with monkeys. I also like camels, and pigeons...silly birds.

The 'Culture Club', the summer league baseball team for Cultural Mediations. This is at the end of a very long game. Final Score: 25-18 for them. As you can see, we only had 7 people, so, 18 runs is quite respectable.

Under the bridge on Bronson Avenue, Ottawa. This is actually a legal spot to do graffiti, and tagging, and it gets put to good use. www.markramsden.wordpress.com

Sept. 4, 2010, 8:20 a.m. Under the Bronson Ave (G. Dunbar) Bridge, runners can admire this year's collection of graffiti art. It's a changing landscape when new artists arrive to re-do the wall.

Culture Club vs. English. Who won? We'll never know. A vast minority decided that after seven innings they were happy with a tie. What has happened to the world? WHAT?

Was amazed when I went under the Bronson bridge to find this mural. Later on I did some research and found that a local mural artist Dan Metcalfe painted this one.
