He says this is the real me. Regal and aloof. Do not believe it for a second! Last Sat I got to meet the famed Groove-Billed Ani of Boyd Hill Nature Preserve. It was amazing. I loved it. The Ani was so friendly and willing to pose! At one point I was sitting on the ground and he/she hopped up onto my foot. Bare skin! I(I wore sandals). He pecked at my vest. Once. Gently. Did I mention he was amazing. He seemed to get dirt - debris on his eyeballs a lot but he fipped out the nictating membrane often so I assume he is made to handle this problem. It was a day I will never forget. He followed all of us around at one time or another. I have only ever met one other bird in the wild that was sooooooo engaging. And I met lots of fascinating people in addition! Renne, Lee, Sara, Dosha(sp?), SkippyAnne, Rob (Rad Cad), Dave 2x, and a couple from Maine. Very helpful, informative people.
