okay..here it is! For my 1st Get Pushed I was paired with the awesome this is ray (); some of you are already familiar with his brilliant wide angle city and landscape views, breathtaking pictures! Check them out! His push was: I would like you to shoot a still life and process it in such a way that it has a surreal feel to it. You may compose and light the picture however you'd like. Okay, didn't know how to handle this first - was glad he didn't gave me a PS assignment.. Slept over it a night and dreamt about fruit bowls with a barbie doll doin Face Down Tuesday in the foreground and Action Man doin Happy Bench Monday etc etc; and finally decided to make it simple: I started from the classic painting still lifes from the old masters with a bottle of wine and some fruit or whatever to exercise composition and light. And together with Myriam (thanx for your eccentric inspiration) we built up a scene today that went..euh...slightly out of control.. I found it very hard to find the right lighting (the weather really sucked), adding a surreal feel to it just working with light and composition seemed very difficult for me, tried out some shots, but finally turned the whole thing into a baroque & absurd & surreal painting.. We sure had great fun processing the scenery in the kitchen at Myriam's place. Thank you Ray for an excellent challenge! I defenitely have to improve my technical skills, working on that! so, tell me, does this look surreal enough for you?

The shot Standard 3 exposures HDR on a tripod using the Sigma 10-20mm lens. Photoshop Curves for contrast. Extra yellow, red and green saturation. Color Balance towards red and yellow. Orton : Made a copy of the layer and performed a gaussian blur on it and set the opacity to 35% or so, added a layer mask and brushed away the effect in the closer by areas, selected the mask on its own and performed a gaussian blur of 40 on it. . About This small river is the 'Baarbeek' and runs under (!) the Leuvensevaart canal, at the spot where the canal has a narrowing and where I took the previous shot of the Leuvensevaart : . Photoshop A little curves and some extra contrast in the clouds, some extra red/yellow saturation to bring out the sun rays. A little dodging of the patch of grass on the right shore. . About The Leuvense vaart is a canal that runs from the city of Leuven to the city of Mechelen and then runs further onwards to the Zennegat. The shot Standard 3 exposures HDR on a tripod using the Sigma 10-20mm lens and a polarizer. At this point the canal has a narrowing, there you can stand about two meters inwards the canal, so it looks like we're above the water. Photoshop Lightened the image a bit, added some extra contrast in the clouds and added some extra red&yellow saturation to bring out the sunlight on the clouds. Dodged the grass on the other side of the canal a bit together with the edge of the canal, to make them less invisible. An unsharp mask. The Koala (Phascolarctos cinereus) is a thickset arboreal marsupial herbivore native to Australia, and the only extant representative of the family Phascolarctidae. The Koala lives almost entirely on eucalyptus leaves. This is likely to be an evolutionary adaptation that takes advantage of an otherwise unfilled ecological niche, since eucalyptus leaves are low in protein, high in indigestible substances, and contain phenolic and terpene compounds that are toxic to most species. Like wombats and sloths, the Koala has a very low metabolic rate for a mammal (which conserves energy) and rests motionless for about 19 hours a day, sleeping most of that time. Sint-Lambertuskerk, Muizen

Van de oude Sint-Lambertuskerk in Muizen (Mechelen) is enkel de toren bewaard gebleven. Na een vernietigend bombardement in 1944 werden tijdens een opgravingscampagne sporen van diverse oude kerken teruggevonden, waarvan de oudste uit de 8ste-9de eeuw dateert. Een gotische eenbeukige kerk uit 1405-07 vervangt een achthoekige koepelkerk uit de 10de eeuw. De gotische kerk wordt in 1578 vernield en moeizaam tot in 1625 gerestaureerd. In 1772 worden zijbeuken toegevoegd. De toren is sinds 1947 beschermd als monument. Tussen 1960 en 1966 werd op het dorpsplein van Muizen een nieuwe kerk gebouwd. Foto: Tijl Vereenooghe

Het voormalige gemeentehuis langs de Magdalenasteenweg in Muizen (Mechelen) werd in 1869 opgericht naar een ontwerp van provinciaal architect Louis Spaak. Het rechthoekige, bakstenen gebouw is sinds 1998 als monument beschermd. In 2008-2010 werd het gebouw volledig gerestaureerd en herbestemd tot dorpshuis, met onder meer een filiaal van de bibliotheek en vergaderruimtes. A couple of storks breeding. Er zijn in het dierenpark Planckendael heel wat ooievaars aan het broeden. Enkele kuikens kwamen al uit het ei, veel vroeger op het seizoen dan andere jaren. Indien het weer meezit, zullen er dit jaar een 50-tal jongen bijkomen.
