NEW Enviro 205 at Bonaly
Made by Stuart Montgomery's Lothian Buses
At the Bonaly terminus this is ADL (Trident) Enviro 400 Hybrid, number 205 (SN61 BBF) designated, along with the other 14 hybrid's, to Service 10. Saturday the 24th of September and this was the great Doors Open day for the public to see inside Central depot at Annandale Street. The garage floor was turned into a grand exhibition hall for the day and well over a thousand came to look around at buses old and new, and everyone went home with leaflets, merchandise..oh and as much peanut butter as you wanted! It was great to see families and young children enjoying the atmosphere and afterwards my friend Peter Barclay and I decided to catch up on a few more of the new Enviro's. We came here to the terminus at Bonaly, near Colinton and just then we saw this little boy - have a look at his expression. The grown-up with him was carrying various leaflets we recognised, including a white balloon with LB's pink slogan. They had also just come from the open day and this little boy is clearly one of the next generation of bus enthusiasts and perhaps a driver too. Here he is looking intently at the LED screen and there were another five of these at Central on show which he must have seen earlier. What a special moment to capture and perhaps many looking at this photo will recognise themselves a long time ago - I certainly did.

209 at Bonaly
Made by Stuart Montgomery's Lothian Buses
From Falkirk, Alexander Dennis (Trident) Enviro 400 Hybrid, number 209 (SN61BBU) rests over at Bonaly terminus near to Colinton. In Lothian's new website 'ecoLothianbuses.com' there's some great information to discover about the Enviro's operating on Service 10. Several slogans identify LB's new ideas and 'Be Smart' goes on to say............ 'Among the many places you can visit on the route 10, there are at least five cinemas, six theatres, three art galleries, a swim centre, two sports grounds, a golf course, several parks and countless shops, pubs and restaurants. Why not treat yourself to a trip out on service 10?' Well now the 5 cinemas and 3 art galleries are easy, but what about those 6 theatres along the route of the 10? Here's my list: The Kings, The Lyceum, The Traverse, The Playhouse and The Leith Theatre. It was Frank Mitchell who then alerted me to a second Traverse theatre which I hadn't realised. He also mentioned the Churchill Theatre, but the 10 doesn't go there....mind you I wondered if that might have been added by mistake when the official list was made up....but no...of course not don't be silly Stuart... this is Lothian Buses!

776 at BonALy!
Made by Stuart Montgomery's Lothian Buses
Gemini number 776 at the suburban terminus of Bonaly, pronounced by locals there with an emphasis on the second syllable BonALy which I think is rather amusing and why not just straight forward BOnaly with the emphasis on the first syllable? After all, who would put a stress on the second syllable of Riccarton - RicCARton? lol. Bonaly is tucked away in the delightful corner of Edinburgh beyond Colinton and a nicer little place you won't find. Leafy and private it has an air of class where the 10 rests here opposite the corner shop which on the day I visited had a most charming lady serving. They all seem very polite and unhurried here, even if they do like to exaggerate the name of the village!

A three quarter off-side view of 776 newly repainted and with a shine that looks like she's just been coated in wax. Bonaly is an area on the south-western outskirts of Edinburgh and the northern slopes of the Pentland Hills, lying within the Parish of Colinton. It is a rich mix of mainly post-war housing, woodland, pasture-land and heather moorland. Bonaly Burn has its sources in the hills above Bonaly and flows towards Oxgangs, where it becomes the Braid Burn. The Edinburgh City Bypass passes through Bonaly which is pronounced by the locals with an emphasis on the second syllable BonALy.
