Steps out of the house, into the street Clutching for comfort in the failing heat Arm hair on end, the sun nearly set The smell of warm concrete getting wet In a moment In a moment everything always is I am learning: I have always known this. One wave on-coming as its sibling recedes Feels the effects of the tiniest deeds Crashing a castle to the ocean floor Changes the weather on a distant shore. In a moment In a moment everything always is I am learning: I have always known this. Suddenly the leaves are turned Suddenly the lesson's learned The completeness of eternity Passes by me suddenly A perfect, precious moment when Moves closer toward Never Again And the leaves are turned as a lesson Suddenly Angel, Mother, Earth and Leaves Beauty, Distance, Sky and Sea We breathe the same air, you and I Angel, Mother, Earth and Sky Floating in the atmosphere Falling like a single fear Whispered words the winds allow: Forever I love you and miss you now. I miss you now. -B Stork ... please view large

Some days her shape in the doorway Will speak to me A bird’s wing on the window Sometimes I’ll hear her when she’s sleeping Her fever dream A language on her face I want your flowers like babies want God’s love Or maybe as sure as tomorrow will come Some days, like rain on the doorstep She’ll cover me With grace in all she offers Sometimes I'd like just to ask her What honest words She can’t afford to say, like I want your flowers like babies want God’s love Or maybe as sure as tomorrow will come ~S. first it giveth... then it taketh away... I'm in you You're in me I can't tell You're so cruel More than me It is true That's right Loyal to Only you Up your sleeve I want some (come on, take it) of all of you (it's yours) Trickin me First it giveth Then it taketh away I would beg I would plead I would shake On a hook Dangling By the way I'm so young And beautiful (That's right) (I'm slick) I'm no fool Time goes by Tables turn Now I know First it giveth Then it taketh away -qotsa (see large) ... please do.

Salmon Bay Bridge

Salmon Bay Bridge
Made by Thad Roan - Bridgepix
The Salmon Bay Bridge, also known as Bridge No. 4, is a single-leaf bascule bridge across Seattle's Salmon Bay from Interbay to Ballard, just west of Commodore Park. It carries the main line of the BNSF Railway on its way north to Everett and south to King Street Station and Seattle's Industrial District. Built in 1914 by the Great Northern Railway, it has an opening span of 61 meters (200 feet) and has two tracks. (Wikipedia)

Dark Carnival

I'm taking a day off. Not that I'm complaining, but there is something going on every day... and sometimes a girl needs a day to relax and introspect. Still revisiting the Frelard Flickr walk. In Ballard there were these freaky carnival-like paintings on boards under an overpass. Does anyone know the backstory? I could have spent all day there photographing them... They totally remind me of this computer game I used to get sucked into called Darkseed II. The artwork was by H.R. Giger :)

Take this kiss upon the brow! And, in parting from you now, Thus much let me avow-- You are not wrong who deem That my days have been a dream; Yet if hope has flown away In a night, or in a day, In a vision, or in none, Is it therefore the less gone? All that we see or seem Is but a dream within a dream. ... ~E.A.Poe (please... view large)

Ballard bridge

walking under this railroad bridge by the locks in Ballard, I noticed the structures placed on the bridge, I assume for remodeling of some sort. Including the outhouse (so workers do not have to descend, onto the railroad tracks, to reach a ground-level toilet). Reminded me of the squatters camps of William Gibson's Bridge Trilogy.

a very light and strange frost cover the front windshield of the Jeep the other morning. I'd not even started the car and it started to melt away from my breath alone in amazing patterns. www.arsprojecta.com/tools/decluttr/2111372984

As seen from the fish ladder at the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks on the Lake Washington Ship Canal. The locks keep the salt water Puget Sound and the fresh water Lake Union separate. It does other stuff, too.

Just in case anyone was wondering where there would be sandy beaches at the Ballard Locks; this was taken from the south side of Seattle's Ballard Locks, low tide, under the train bridge.
