surroundings. the neighbourhood of collectively owned, low-cost housing was built largely to jensen-klint's design but without his active participation as he was considered too stubbornly idealistic to work under the given restrictions by the client. still, monument and surroundings work beautifully together and make up a true gesamtkunstwerk of christian urbanism conceived at the brink of the first world war, when such a notion lost its meaning to a great many people, and finished 6 months into the nazi occupation of denmark. the housing remains cheap and highly attractive. the church is mostly empty.

the main entrance under the tower and into the church. the mass of the tower is expressed in the brickwork as jensen-klint mimics the simplified detailing of northern gothic.

interior, central aisle rib vaults. the lack of a transept is a reference to the simple basilica of the Danish village church.
