Please comment and faves at: I did a little fun cooperation with Soleá. The idea started when I took the image below. Photo taken by Carmen and Post processing done by myself and hopes this painting come alive before your eyes!!!

After climbing down the Westerkerk Tower, we went to the Bijbels Museum to check out various biblical dioramas. The website claims this one is world famous. Here are Israelites celebrating the Lord with some harp-like instruments. The rest of this diorama is quite large, focusing on a tabernacle created from descriptions in the Pentateuch. They put a mirror on the floor to help you see the ceiling without craning your neck. I wonder how this was enjoyed when people lived in the house--did they look up a lot? Visit the Bijbels Museum

Created by Leendert Schouten (1828-1905) who was a minister and founder of the Bible museum. The model was built between 1842 and 1865, made to 1/7 scale, according to Exodous 26, 27, and 35-8. In 1851 he allowed the public to view this model once a fortnight.

This was part of the house that originally stood on the site. Realising he would be hemmed in, Cornelisz Kerfbijl gave in and sold up. That was 1623. Hence the floor tiles and fireplace are original and 50 years earlier than the rest of the house.

This ceiling is by Jacob de Wit. To me, it is an odd view, and I don’t know enough about art to comment any further. Visit the Bijbels Museum
