Osmanlı’da azınlık ibadethanelerine kubbe yapma yasağı kalktığı dönemde inşa edildiği için çok zarif bir kubbeye sahip. 14 Eylül 1880’de ibadete açılan kilisenin mimarı Vasilaki İonnnidi Efendi. Kilisenin bulunduğu adada daha önce bir kilise ve küçük bir mezarlık olduğu söyleniyor. Rumların, Ayia Trias Kilisesi olarak telaffuz ettiği yapı Hıristiyanlığın kutsal üçlüsüne, baba, oğul ve kutsal ruha ithaf edilmiş. Kubbe kasnağında bulunan 12 pencere ise 12 havariye gönderme yapan mimari bir işaret. Aya Triada, the largest Eastern Orthodox church in Istanbul, was completed in 1880 and is still in use. The walls of this lovely sanctuary are lined with delicate icons, the ceiling painted with colorful frescoes depicting scenes from the Bible.
