This weekend (I include Fridays into the weekend, cause I am a student being not very busy on fridays) I want to upload some other pictures - to get more diversity on one hand but also to show some recent works. Last weekend (friday and saturday) I met with (some of u will know him, the good ol' Crazy Ivory) and we went to some old buildings again. While on friday night (where we took some shots near Berlin Alexanderplatz) my battery lasted, it went flat on Saturday and I noticed soon enough that my emergency battery was just as flat at the other one. My photography day finished early :-) The feeling of the fernweh or wanderlust or whatever is even enhanced because I am regularly posting pictures from Japan and now, after being home again for 2 months, I really want to go back. What I wanted to show here is a guy caught in the temperatures of the cold german october. He wears black clothes and just stares at the picture of a sunny beach. His face is unimportant, because the viewer should guess oneself what she/he would make. His pose is emotionless. He has the desire to travel and go away, but is deep in thoughts.

I've met Nigel in the park in front of my house... His great tattoos all over his face and arms just caught my eyes... I thought I had to take his portrait to show it to you! I came to him, explained the project and ask the permission to take a picture. What was my surprise when I've heard Yes, no problem if you have 1€... Tried to negotiate, but there were nothing to do with Nigel... If you want a picture of a real German from the GDR, you have to pay me! After the deal, I started shooting and he calculated 1,2,3.... Or now 4,5 shots, it will be expensive! But this time I explained I couldn't make just ONE picture to be sure to have one good in its... So, that was Nigel! I suppose I have to thank him, even if I have the feeling I've paid for something... This picture is #15 in my 100 strangers project. Shot with Canon EOS 400D + Canon 50mm f/1.8 This is a very special image. It shows me and a cigarette. I am a convinced non-smoker and even though I only held it in my hand without drawing on it it disgusted me nevertheless. The reason why I did it? A friend of mine is currently working on a school project about drugs and she needed my help or rather my camera and me as a model. If you look at it in detail I believe you can see that I had big problems in imitating a smoker because I never held a cigarette in my hand before so I had no idea how smokers do this. April 17th 2008, a memorial concert for Oscar Tietz took place at Rykestraße Synagogue. Oscar Tietz (1858-1923) was the founder of the Hermann Tietz (Hertie) department stores (named after this uncle Hermann who financed the entreprise). He also was a MP of the Jewish community in Berlin, one of the founders of the liberal German Democratic Party (DDP) in 1918 and member of society. Rykestraße Synagogue is one of the few Jewish houses of worship in Berlin which survived Nazi time and Second World War. Today it is Germany's biggest synagogue. Opened in 1904, architect: Johann Hoeniger. Guessed at the Guess where Berlin group by gänsehaut*.

A week ago, I got the new Nikon AF-S 50/1.4 after a recommendation by , and I'm just amazed at what you can do with it. The DOF is simply wonderful.
