Bayon
The Bayon is a temple at Angkor, Cambodia. It was built in the 13th century as the state temple of king Jayavarman VII, and stands at the centre of his capital, Angkor Thom. Its most distinctive feature is the multitude of smiling faces on the towers which rise up to its central peak. It also possesses two sets of bas-reliefs, which depict an unusual combination of mythological, historical and mundane events. The main current conservatory body, the JSA, has described the temple as "the most striking expression of the 'baroque' style" ^citation needed, compared to the , compared to the classical style of Angkor Wat.Top photos chosen by u all:

Most scholars believe that the gigantic faces on the temple's towers belong either to the god-king Jayavarman VII or a composite of his image and that of the bodhisattva of compassion called Avalokitesvara. Either way, the old phrase Its good to be the king still rings true if it were to be determined by the couple of hundred gigantic smiling faces carved into the stone temple everywhere you look. The main foundation of the temple is certainly Hindu in origin which post dates Angkor Wat by a century. But during King Jayavarman VII time, he built structures on top of it representing symbols of Buddhism. There are 54 towers at the temple.
