We were strolling through the old part of Madrid. It was February and although it was a beautiful sunny day it was bitterly cold. The temperature hovered around freezing. Saw these two ladies, out on their balconies, chatting to each other. Conversation went a bit like this (as far as I could hear) Lady on the Left: “Hi Rosa, it’s a bit fresh this morning” Lady on the Right: “Certainly is Louisa, I may have to go indoors and put a vest on” L: “ Good idea. I’m going to put a wig on as well. Did you know you lose more heat through your head than any other part of the body” R: “Are you taking the p**s, Louisa” L: “Oh I’m so, so sorry. I hadn’t noticed! I haven’t seen you for a while. Is everything OK with you” R: “I’ve not been well” L: “Sorry to hear that, Rosa, nothing serious I hope” R: “I had these terrible pains in my head” L: “But it’s OK now, is it?” R: “Yeah. I saw the doctor who sent me to a surgeon. He amputated my head” L: “And that cured it?” R: “Well, my head doesn’t hurt anymore but I’ve got a really sore neck”

Madrid, November 23, 2006. This photograph was taken in El viajero, a very particular coffe/restaurant in La Latina quarter (Madrid). I used the Summicron-M 35mm version IV, a wonderful lens. The light/shadows and sharp/unsharp transitions are magic in this picture. It is an unconventional environment portrait. The portrayed person, like me, was using a Leica M8. This symmetry game is funny. The picture looks like a mirror portrait, but it isn't.

En la decada de los 60 toda la red ferroviaria y de carreteras de España estaba llena de graffitis de ?alquitran? con el texto Caramelos Paco.

Lugar tranquilo donde destaca el color rojo de sillas y paredes, se escucha una música suave y se llena los fines de semana por la noche. En verano, su agradable terraza sobre las escaleras de la Travesía del Nuncio está repleta de clientes. Es dificil creer que durante la Edad de Oro en España, se comitieron crímenes terribles por la Inquisición en esta misma zona.

La calle del Toro comienza en la Plaza del Alamillo. No fue nombrada así por los encierros que en siglos pasados se celebraron en ese barrio, sino porque, según cuentan, uno de los vecinos de la calle colgaba de su ventana unas astas de toro con el fin de atemorizar a los transeúntes, imitando el bramido del animal.

I'm realy depressed. today i found out that three film that i did (in a special studio, i must say!) didn't come out (nothing!!!) because i didn't put batteries in my camera (LCA). it's quite new so i didn't know i was supposed to. anyway, i think i've learned it on the hard way. :-(
