Obviously the controversy about moving the Barnes Collection is difficult. However, after the treatment my family and I received there today, I'm glad it's moving downtown... as I can't help but feel that the behavior they displayed today is typical for them and a big part of the reason their at odds with the community (not to mention that they have a long history of wanting to prevent people from seeing this art). After admitting that it was their fault that the tours were running hectically that day, a Barnes employee (who promptly disappeared) misinformed us when the next tour would be... so we missed the next and last tour as well. They refused to help in any way, refused to have a supervisor/manager/docent come out and talk with us, and then called security on me after they grew tired of my 3 minutes of polite questions. My father, who always spoke of wanting to see the collection was not allowed to be ONE person to join a full tour (even though it was their mistake which made him miss it in the first place). They subsequently had security follow us around for the rest of our visit. Honestly, they deserve their legal defeats!! Art is supposed to be seen by all!!
