Bardon Hill - the quarry
Made by Ned Trifle
Another view from the highest point in Leicestershire. They've been quarrying here for 400 years (so a very interesting sign at the top tells you). It's also home to 200 different species of spider including a rare one called Mastigusa macrophthalma. So don't tread on them. It's hard to get a good idea of just how big an hole this is - I recommend you go and see it for yourself.

Bardon Hill - The quarry road
Made by Ned Trifle
The road runs from the quarry (which you will be able to see from the top) down to the main road. On a sunday it is totally deserted. You can just see the 'heavy plant' that obviously thunders along here in the week. At which times, be careful when crossing. The path is obvious, just keep going up.

On the way to Bardon Hill - the stream
Made by Ned Trifle
The path levels out over this attractive little stream (complete with unattractive barbed wire). All the way along the path there are signs that the path is well maintained with new stiles and walkways.

Bardon Hill - a big digger

I have no idea what this truck is - but it has very big wheels. They were all lined up on the quarry road ready for work on monday.
