Pambansang Merienda- Fishball

Pambansang Merienda- Fishball
Made by Kuya D
Boy or girl Young or old Rich or poor Jobless or employed. They all eat fishball. Taken last Wednesday during the Anti Charter Change Rally at Makati. ALJ Manila (Ariel) and I were supposed to meet at the corner of Makati Ave and Ayala at 4pm but there were so many people we couldnt see each other. We only saw each other at 630 pm. The most commonly eaten type of fish balls is colloquially known simply as fishballs. It is somewhat flat in shape and most often made from the meat of cuttlefish or pollock and served with a sweet and spicy sauce or with a thick black sweet and sour sauce. Fish balls in the Philippines are sold by street vendors pushing wooden deep frying carts. The balls are served skewered, offered with a choice of three kinds of dipping sauces: Sour (pale orange colored) - vinegar, water, diced onions and garlic, Sweet (brown gravy colored) - corn starch, banana ketchup, sugar and salt, and Hot/Sour (amber or deeper orange colored) - the sweet variety with lots of small hot chilis added. Dark sauces are rare as these are soy sauce based and soy sauce is expensive in terms of food cost for street food. The latest (2006) iteration in the Philippine fishball industry is the introduction of 'ball' varieties: chicken, squid (cuttlefish actually), and kekiam. The last are low cost renditions vaguely resembling original Chinese delicacy of the same (soundwise) name. Chicken and squid balls as well as kekiam sell at 4 US Cents. Regular fishballs sell at 1 US Cent. ...Wiki Pangapatnaputatlong pwesto. Unang pahina. THANK YOU FRIENDS FOR YOUR VISITS, KIND COMMENTS AND FAVES !!

Ashton's Baptismal: Ashton Loves the Water!

Ashton Daniel's Baptismal September 28, 2010 Ceremony Santuario de San Antonio Merienda after at Ashton's home We had continuous celebrations for the two weekends for my newest god child Ashton! The first one was for his Baptismal and the following week for his First Birthday! The baptismal was held at the Santuario de San Antonio. We had a special merienda after at Ashton’s home prepared by his gourmet mom! A “Create your own sandwich” merienda was enjoyed by the guests together with good conversation among close friends. (please click the link to the gourmet mom’s blog: My Kitchen and Yours) The birthday celebration was held the following week at the Urdaneta Clubhouse. An assortment of entertainment was hired for both the children and the adult’s viewing pleasure. One thing I will always remember is the food! Probably the best food and the most food I have ever seen in a children’s party! Catering was done by Bizu and add to this are the assortment of appetizers like shawarma and Deryl’s (the mom) very own Hooked Fish and Chips! Wishing Ashton the very best and ofcourse to his Mom and Dad as well (Deryl and Arvin)!

Slot Number 73

Slot Number 73

Day 73 - March 14, 2010 Went out earlier for a late night coffee in hopes that I'd find a photo for the day. Found an open Starbucks along 6750 in Makati but by the time we had parked, it had already closed. Dejected, we walked back to the parking area and that's when I noticed the slots were numbered. We had just walked past #52 so knew that #73 had to be close by. Spent a good five minutes searching till we found it at the far corner, on the same floor of the parking building. To everyone who started a Project 365 on January 1st of this year I know we have a long way to go, but keep shooting, don't give up, and make sure you have a great time doing it!

The HDR Experiment | 046:365

Nothing special today. I downloaded Photomatix and tried if it was possible to do HDR photography on my camera phone. Here's my first decent attempt. The first ones were no good because (1) my camera phone has no tripod (go figure) so the photos turned out a bit psychedelic, and (2) the exposure range of my phone is limited. I know the photo is nothing amazing but the fact that I can do HDR with my phone just made me giggle like a little girl inside. So wait, I take it back, this IS something special. I've just opened doors to more possibilities with my phone. Expect more HDR experiments in the next few days. :-) 15FEB2010 -taken with a Nokia N96-

DAY 2 - Wedding at Makati Shang

DAY 2 - Wedding at Makati Shang
Made by filamory
Whew... took forever for this to upload. That's internet in the Philippines for you =) Shanda, my dear wife, got to host a Christian wedding in Makati Shangri La Hotel with someone's referral. It was unusual in many ways including a reception with no games, all female string ensemble playing outside then marching in at a certain point... etc. All in all it was an interesting experience and we found ourselves challenged although we were among acquantances in the event. I'm trying out a new look. Comments? 'til tomorrow!

Do a hidden Mickey and count how many hearts there are in this photo! This was actually a test shot for my settings. I wanted to see if my macro could capture the texture of the frosted glass in low light. I was quite annoyed when I saw that there was a lamp outside and that it might ruin my test shot. And then I realized that the light from the lamp actually made it prettier. Good things come to those who -er- experiment with their camera settings. 05FEB2010 -taken with a Nokia N96-

So this guy, this Herman Li guy, held a g'tar clinic at the local Hard Rock Cafe. I had to back out of a long planned beach trip thus pissing off an entire division of office mates to make it. Not to mention I was still battling a fever the entire ordeal. But izzoworthet. Dude is amazing. I only wish I could have brought a Guitar Hero controller with me. I wanted to see if I can beat him on expert mode. But I hope this ain't the closest I'll get to seeing an actual Dragonforce show.

The same pano as before but with the stitch refined and processed with a pseudo HDR filter. HDRtist HDR - www.ohanaware.com/hdrtist/ You can see the two tones of green and grey in the left and right side of the picture. I'm not skilled enough or have the right software to even it out. There's clearly a problem with the highlights too. But anyway I'm happy with it.

52 of 365 We need to be willing to accept that the road on the journey we call life is not always straight. Sometimes sometimes we must be willing to turn either right or left. This was literally a snap and run kind of shot. Took this at a mall parking lot. Have been soo busy lately, have been making sure to shoot one shot a day but didn't have the time to edit any of my shots and upload them until today.

Ashton Daniel Parents: Arvin & Deryl Urdaneta Village, Makati City Philippines March 28, 2010 My friend Chester invited me to shoot baby Ashton (parents: Arvin & Deryl) with him. The shoot was short but I think successful. Chester's strobes did him much good and it made me think of going back to shooting with flash. Anyway, I did what I could with my ambient light shooting :)

Due to various food allergies, I pretty much ordered the same breakfast meal the 5 days I stayed at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel... only making modifications to what kind of freshly squeezed juice I desired each morning.

Another simple stitch. Nothing special. Just wanted to share it with anyone interested. If you look closely you can see the join. It needs some post-processing though. I think I will get to that later. I took this photo or photos earlier this year in the Philippines. Glorietta 4 Park is in Makati CIty.

Yes, that's correct; the guard does indeed have a loaded revolver and live rounds of 38 calibre ammunition on his belt! What the locals will do to steal a Frappaccino - you must guard against such acts of terror!
