Bold March sunlight bounces off the yellow-grey-brown claybricks of the house across the gardens; the next-door neighbour’s cut the dead ivy and the reflected light hits the artificial flowers and their strong delicate colours, glowing in their various cobalt vases; blooming joyful where living flowers find that corner sad; the flowers as if washed today with brighter water-colours; as if grace itself, wishing to send a message to this room today, had chosen the spectrum of the flowers’ purples, yellows, blues and reds as its medium and message; and its smile; today, the spectrum is for me metaphor enough – its rainbow limits playing now-you-see-me… with the retina, hinting at the formless always beckoning there, beyond the form.. metaphor enough for heaven’s mind itself; and heaven’s smile. - Heaven as Spectrum, by Michael Shepherd (Rose window, Assumption Cathedral, Bangkok) - Seen in Explore, 25 April 2008

Assumption Cathedral, Bangrak Bangkok (HDR, 3xp). Please view Large. Completed in 1821, in the reign of King Rama II. The cathedral was named Assumption to honor the taking up of the Virgin Mary to heaven after her death. The Feast of the Assumption commemorates this religious occasion, St Mary's Day, on 15th August. The present church was reconstructed in 1909. Damaged during World War II, the cathedral was restored after extensive repairs. The Cathedral's red brick exterior sets it apart from the surrounding white buildings. Tall square towers flank the main entrance leading to the spacious nave with a high ornate ceiling.

Sky dome at the top of the tower. These was taken before my DSLR days.....just love what my little canon can do. Sirocco - Rare Simple elegance with a spectacular view. For a truly awe inspiring experience start with a drink at the Sky Bar, the circular shaped colour changing neon light bar is right on the edge of the roof and with glass railings, it is not for the faint heart.

One of the other abandon building in BKK. This is right in the heart of BKK CBD. Can you imagine how much the land would be worth? Old style building mix between Thai and Europe would have been built around Rama 4 era. I did have to sneak in a little pocket money to get into this place to take photo of it. It used to be an old Russian Embassy but had now been shut for about 20 yrs. Still wonderful to look at tho.

Sometimes its easy to get your vision crossed while gazing towards the multitudes of identical balconies on the 68 story State Tower in Bang Rak, Bangkok. Note that this photograph only shows about 1/5 of all the balconies that are on this side of the building. Its one of the largest building in Southeast Asia, with 300,000 m² floor area.
