This is a Purple Heart Memorial that stand in the Central Florida Veterans Memorial Park by Lake Baldwin in Orlando, It is across the street from the Veterans Administration buildings. Purple Heart Wikipedia ~ The Purple Heart is a United States military decoration awarded in the name of the President to those who have been wounded or killed while serving on or after April 5, 1917 with the U.S. military. The National Purple Heart Hall of Honor is located in New Windsor, New York. With its forerunner, the Badge of Military Merit, which took the form of a heart made of purple cloth, the Purple Heart is the oldest award that is still given to members of the U.S. military, the only earlier award being the obsolete Fidelity Medallion. The original Purple Heart, designated as the Badge of Military Merit, was established by George Washington—then the commander-in-chief of the Continental Army—by order from his Newburgh, New York headquarters on August 7, 1782. In 1997, at the urging of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Congress passed legislation prohibiting future awards of the Purple Heart to civilians. Today, the Purple Heart is only for those men and women in uniform. Civilians who are killed or wounded as a result of hostile action now receive the new Defense of Freedom Medal, created shortly after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The most Purple Hearts received by one person is eight. Six U.S. Army soldiers and one U.S. Marine share that distinction.

rolyn and chanhi and these dogs loved each other! they made friends and played together the whole time at the dog park. this photo was taken like 6 years ago and @ that time rolyn and chanhi would swim in this lake and would swim in the ocean, but they had never jumped off of something into a body of water. they wouldn't jump off of this dock. they wanted to but they just couldn't! we would throw balls and they would just stand on the very edge and bark and shriek, and get down and stretch their arms out. later we moved to a house with a dock and lake, so they learned to jump in and love it. although, occasionally they would find a random lily pad to bark at and try to get. sometimes they would hang so far over the edge and get so vertical with their little bums sticking straight up that they would fall right in! well, i think chanhi was the only one that ever fell in.. :)

The foliage is an orange-brown to a copper- bronze color, giving this grass a dried look when it is actually actively growing. The form of Leatherleaf Sedge is upright and slightly arching, due to the leaves curling at the tips. This grass is non-invasive, low maintenance, and is attractive year round. Great in the landscape, rock gardens, near water gardens, and container gardens. Works particularly well in fall themes. Carex buchananii 'Red Rooster'™ can reach 12-30 tall with a 36 spread. Does best in a moist well-drained soil.

I've driven by this house a countless number of times for several years. Yet I never realized how big it was until I saw it lit up. I've been planning to shoot it for almost a week. I'm a fan of light trails in slow shutter photography, but I'm not sure I like it here. In retrospect, I could have taken two exposures and blended them. I made sure the roof line is level, but the house looks a bit off to me. What do you think? [update: see comments below which indicate I corrected the original image]

The editor of Baldwin Park Living magazine asked me to get a shot of one of the electronic speed limit signs in my neighborhood. I knew I wanted a twilight shot, but due to schedule conflicts and a tight deadline, I had to get up at 5:30am to get this shot. The light was just right around 6:12am. The light in the distance was a happy accident. I really love how the leaves on the tree look plastic.

Well, it's hard to avoid objects above the vehicles roofline.Actually there was a light pole behind the passenger side window, but I removed it using PS clone tool. I took 3 shoots ( -2, 0, +1 EC) and combine it in Photomatix to create HDR image. Rebel XT + EF 50/1.8

A little boy at the dog park, finding the water more interesting then his dog. I had it on aperture priority at f/8.0 because i was trying to capture running dogs all day, and trying to keep them in focus. I should have lowered it for this shot, but he bent down so quick i didn't want to lose the opportunity.

mukha wiggles and shakes when she runs. she makes quick decisions about which direction she's going to go and to what extreme. she's so puppy~ish and playful! it's so funny and cute and hard to capture, but it looks like she's doing it here. old phone pic i was going to post once, but forgot.

First visit to Fleet Peeples Park in Orlando!! This leash free dog park is by a lake!!! Dogs can swim in and is a great time!! Tank run non stop for close to an hour and loved the water! Will be visiting often for sure
