Babi Yar

Babi Yar (Ukrainian: Babin yar, Babyn yar; Russian: Babij yar, Babiy yar) is a ravine in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, located between Frunze and Melnyk Streets between the Kyryliv church and Olena Teliha Street. The ravine was first noted in historical records during the early fifteenth century, but is remembered today as the site where more than 100,000 Soviet civilians were executed by the Nazis assisted by the local collaborators during the Second World War.
