A view across the courtyard of the Azem Palace - originally built by the Ottoman governor of Damascus in 1750, it now houses a museum about traditional Syrian life. Actually, I would have loved to have shown you some of the hilarious mannequins in the museum - but the no photos policy was too strictly enforced. You'll have to make do with this shot of a courtyard and a fountain. If it's any consolation, you can see the Minaret of Jesus of the Umayyad Mosque in the background. Legend has it that when the time of reckoning is at hand, this is where Jesus will descend to Earth to confront the Antichrist.
