The Astoria-Megler Bridge is a continuous truss bridge that spans the mouth of the Columbia River between Astoria, Oregon and Point Ellice near Megler, Washington. It was the last segment of U.S. Route 101 between Canada and Mexico.^ It is the longest continuous truss bridge in North America.

I think I have a new favourite bridge... the Astoria-Megler bridge spanning the mouth of the Columbia River between Oregon and Washington. It somehow manages to be spectacular, graceful and clumsy all at the same time. Here, Christine and I are driving north across it on a grey Oregon Coast day, purely because we could. I snapped off a few shots as we drove across, and while most of them are pretty average pictures, I really like this one. The combination of sharpish detail in the middle of the shot combined with some nice motion blur at the edges and even the rain on the windshield really work for me.
