(04.08.2009) This was taken near the Asakusa temple. I saw the old couple on sitting on a wall. I tried my best Japanese (after two days my Japanese was incredibly bad!)... But I saw a useful phrase in one book. Shashi o totto moi deska? (May I take a picture?). I tried it once Shashima toto o moi deska? They looked at me... I tried again. Sushi o tot mo deskai? Still they were wondering what I wanted. I just wanted to take a picture of them (kuso, i thought, it's very difficult), so I showed them my camera and said picture??. They finally agreed and so this picture was born. (highly recommended)

While visiting Asakusa, we came across Hanayashiki amusement park--a very small theme park that has apparently operated for over 150 years (its website calls it the oldest amusement park in Japan). I took a lot of photos there, too, but this is one of my favorites. They had a small roller coaster there that circled the park, and I managed to get this shot while we were waiting in line for another ride.

Sensō-ji (Asakusa Temple)

This is the Asakusa Temple in Tokyo, taken from when my friends and I went to visit the Asakusa district. Its Japanese name is the Sensō-ji (浅草寺). It's apparently one of Tokyo's oldest and most noteworthy temples.

I'm not sure exactly what this structure is (if my language skills were better I may have asked someone while we were there), but it's also located in Asakusa, Tokyo, quite near to the Sensō-ji (Asakusa Temple).
