Grotto known as the Church of St. Peter in Antioch-on-the-Orontes (Antakya, Hatay). Peter was the first to establish a church in Antioch where followers of Jesus were first called Christians. Antioch served as the home base for Peter, Paul and Barnabas; shortly it became the third most important bishopric - after Jerusalem and Rome - in the developing church. Mass is celebrated here yearly on the feast of SS Peter and Paul, June 29.
