This structure was designed by the famous architect Louis L. Long in the 1850s. The heirs of Charles Carroll of Carrollton donated their estate to the Redemptorist Fathers. Redemptorist Novices, seminarians, and brothers helped build this 7,000 square foot Gothic church from 1858 to 1860. Redemptorists continue to reside here. Located along on Spa Creek but within view of the Chesapeake Bay, this spot would have been treasured by the native American tribes that migrated along the Bay.
