After snapping the sunset of Cathedral Peak from Angora Ridge last August, we drove to the Angora Lakes parking area. A half-mile hike is required to get up to the lower lake. The upper lake -- another half-mile or so along a dirt road -- is home to the Angora Lakes Resort. The resort is so popular that they don't need to advertise or publish a website. Both lakes are worth a Saturday hike. I live this view. The washed out sky gives you the impression the lake was set on the Moon or in a sound stage -- isolated from the world around it. It's located in a world by itself. The hustle of South Lake Tahoe is just a few miles away. A quick hike and you escape civilization.
