As you enter World Showcase from Future World, The American Adventure is directly across the Lagoon. It is the center-most pavilion in the World Showcase and is flanked by Italy on the east and Japan on the west. It is actually the southernmost point of Epcot. The pavilion includes an Audio-Animatronic stage show (also called American Adventure), an outdoor stage and amphitheater (America Gardens Theater), a gallery exhibit called National Treasures featuring Americana from Jackie Robinson, Abe Lincoln, and many more (American Heritage Gallery) a fast-food eatery (Liberty Inn), and a small shop (Heritage Manor Gifts), all set among landscaped walkways and gardens. The architecture of the building is done in classic English Georgian style. Elements in the Disney building were inspired by Independence Hall, Boston's Old State House, Monticello, and Colonial Williamsburg. The structure's 110,000 bricks are handmade from Georgian clay, which were then colored and aged to make them look authentic. The roof is made of slate, and the floor of marble and copper. Paintings and quotations line the walls of the Main Hall, the West Hall, and the Upper Lobby of the attraction's building. The quotes are from Walt Disney, Samuel Walter Foss, Althea Gibson, Charles A. Lindbergh, Archibald MacLeish, George Magar Markikian, Herman Melville, Ayn Rand, Wendell Lewis Willkie, and Thomas Wolfe. As you leave the main lobby and proceed into the theater, you must ride escalators or hike a set of stairs through the Hall of Flags . Above you is hung a collection of the flags that have flown over the United States in all of its forms. It includes Revolutionary War flags, Colonial flags, and foreign flags that once had claim to the land. There are 44 flags in all. USA Pavilion Walt Disney World EPCOT Orlando Fl.

The American Adventure takes guests on a trip through America's history. It is narrated by figures of Benjamin Franklin and Mark Twain. The show is presented in a theater-like auditorium, with sets and characters rising out from the stage floor to represent scenes from different historical periods. The characters provide insight into American life of the past through conversations in which they discuss the current events of their time. Periods include the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, the Centennial International Exhibition of 1876 (representing American industrialization), and the Great Depression. The presentation culminates with a musical film montage representing famous moments and people in American history from post-World War II to the present.

Here I am with Peter Noone, better known as Herman from Herman's Hermits. True fans will know his whole name - Peter Blair Denis Bernard Noone. He was a teen idol of mine, so it was a thrill to meet him as an adult. He is looking a bit sunburned here, and I was feeling the heat myself. This was taken at an EPCOT concert, part of Disney's Flower Power series. Peter is such a sweetheart and graciously posed for photos with a long line of fans, who call themselves Noonatics :-) When I sent him an email later, along with this photo, he actually answered! Check out his web site at www.peternoone.com/ 5/4/2001

Golden Hour Sunset

Forgot I took this shot. Really love how it came out, though. It was a touch too much on the top, so I cropped that out. Then, in going around WDW Photography's website looking for a golden hour tip section, I stumbled upon Cory Disbrow's writeup called The Power of Nik Color Efex Pro (http://www.wdwphotography.com/the-power-of-nik-color-efex-pro/). Work gave me a copy of the Nik Suite, and I haven't really had any tips with it, so I ate this up, and this picture, helped out by Pro Contrast and Tonal Contrast, is the result.

So, there is a lot to this picture. Pretty solid ND filters, a 30 second exposure besides with an aperture of 32 to start. So we're talking about an f-stop of anywhere between 35 and 37, depending on if I stacked on just my ND 0.9 or the 0.9 and 0.6. I just love the golds and such in the shot. I thought this a lost shot, but with a little bit of Photoshop magic, I brought the Disney Magic to life. Make sure you click on the image to see it on black. The colors are far richer, then.

Remember Eric Burdon and the Animals? This is Eric Burdon in concert with the New Animals at Disney's EPCOT. I bet some of the New Animals weren't even born with Burdon had his first hit. This concert was part of EPCOT's spring Flower Power series of oldies concerts. My son and I don't usually listen to the same music, but we both like Eric Burdon! IMG_0072ec

Trumpeter at Epcot's Candlelight Processional. ISO 1600 - no noise reduction applied. I'm pretty impressed at how usable 1600 ISO is on the Rebel XTi. It probably won't print the best or stand up to major enlargement, but it certainly works for web display. Prints and Digital Files

Timon Topiary at Epcot's 2011 International Flower & Garden Festival. Timon is a character from Disney's The Lion King. He is a meerkat, a member of the mongoose family. Did you know: Meerkats have a bare patch of skin on their bellys which they expose to the sun in order to absorb heat and keep warm!! Thanks for looking!!

Back to the Candlelight Processional again. I really like the trees that they had on both side of the stage. The extreme white was difficult to balance. Little work and I like it.
