Marivi’s Gazebo (new & improved)

Marivi’s Gazebo (new & improved)
Made by En Why See
Designed by Maria (Marivi) Victoria Garrido. Marivi uses a tab technique to attach elements to the base card, eliminating the painstaking attachment of threads that traditional origamic architecture typically uses. In fact, many of Chatani and Nakazawa’s designs can be modified to use tabs instead of threads. Marivi is another artist I’ve helped convert to the “ROBO Way.”

It's hard to tell from this angle but this is about 40 feet tall. As soon as I get an exact location on this I'll put it on a map. I'm pretty sure I was on Avenue B at the time, headed south toward Rivington. If anyone knows exactly where this one was shot, let me know. ETA: Never mind. It's on 6th and B.

After a long, sweaty night of packing up my Alphabet City apartment, I decided to sneak up to the roof to cool off and catch one last glimpse of the awesome view before moving out later that day.

The name of St. Brigid's Church s one of the few surviving reminders that this was long ago an Irish neighborhood. It now serves a mainly Latino congregation.
