Allahabad pronunciation (help·info) (Hindi: ²¾¹¾¬¾¦, Urdu: ahl+aSh+aMb+a+d+, Ilahabad) is a city in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

This recently built bridge has made travel to Naini a much pleasant experience - locals told me. Previously it would take anything from 10 minutes to 3 hours to get to the other side of the river using the old bridge. People have to pay toll to use this structure... but I think its a fair deal - either spend time or money... both cost the same!

The Hindu community considers the water here to be very sacred, and scores of boats ferry people to the point where Ganga and Yamuna meet... I felt very sad to see the actual state of the water... very polluted and abused.

We met people from our own state... and from a city nearby - this family had come from Aurangabad, just 120 km from Ahmednagar. It was fun to talk to somebody outside the family in Marathi after a long time!
