Okay, so I'm finally up here in Washington. Working. But 3 of us after work today decided that since it wasn't raining, to try to get to the base of Mt. Rainier. It's only like an hour That's what someone said at 4pm when we started out. We drove and drove and drove, in 1 car until we got to Paradise, which is as far as the road will go before the 12ft. banks of snow on each side of the road, make you stop. Not only that, but the rain got so bad that the clouds pretty much hid the top the entire trip. But, we did stop by little known Alder Lake about 30 minutes from the base of the mountain. Plenty of stumps at the base of this lake. 9 exposures. My shoes need cleaning. This has become my #1 most interesting photo

We passed this cute little church in Elbe, WA. I just did a little research and this is what I came up with about this church... The Evangelische Lutherische Kirche, aka The Little White Church, measures 18 ft. x 24 ft. and seats a whopping 46. It was built by German settlers in 1906, and enjoyed a classification by Ripley's Believe It or Not as the Smallest Church in America (titles such as this, handed out decades ago, litter the tiny church landscape and cause no small confusion to pilgrims). Because E.L.K. lies on the highway travelers use to reach Paradise in Mt. Rainier National Park, the church is promoted as on the road to Paradise. August 21, 2006
