Just received my 10-20mm Sigma lens. Had to go try it out last night even though this was definitely one of the less spectacular sunsets and this is one of my less spectacular photos :) At 10mm the range is mind-boggling to me (a whole new way of looking at the world!) -- you're seeing from about the San Francisco airport (far left) to Sutro Tower, to downtown (straight ahead) - all the way to the Marin headlands across the Golden Gate bridge (on the right and behind downtown), and to (what I think are) the Oakland hills behind Alameda city on the far right. Whoa! Needless to say, as one who just owned a 50mm lens before, this is all very new. I appreciate any constructive feedback on how to best use my new lens (for example, avoid the vignetting - do I have to take the hood off in low light?)

The world's ugliest sculpture on public display. The city of Alameda wanted to make sure that no-one hangs out at the center of the new Alameda Towne Centre. God, what sick fantasies must be in the head of whoever created those frog-boy or frog-girl hybrids. Blessed be the day when this monster will be removed because of public protest or because people vomit all the time when they see this.

Slept in. Returned many overdue things to library. Thrifted. Taqueria on Central with Gary and Tim. Tea on the patio at Julie's with same and Mimi drove herself over, too. Sunset. I will spend the rest of the evening vegging out to TV DVDs and trying not to psyche myself out about the 8:30am root canal I'm having.

The tech crew takes our boss and friend, Paul Ryan and his wife Jo out for a short night of bowling and a long night of drinking in Alameda, CA. Good times, good times. I think Paul fired us all that night.
