The core idea of the scheme hinges upon the building being a framework that behaves like a test rack, a series of slipping planes within which independent pods are inserted. These pods extend vertically, linking different levels of the building together and promoting the exchange of ideas between the different disciplines.

There is no consensus on what triggered the Civil War. However the militarization of the Palestinian refugees did spark an arms race amongst the different political factions. Christians in East Beirut were surrounded by Palestinian camps with severe shortages of food and fuel and the Syrian Army shelled Christian neighborhoods. A particularly destructive period was the 1982 Israeli invasion, during which most of West Beirut was under siege by Israeli troops and Israeli planes bombed buildings in Beirut that contained PLO associated groups. The Taif Agreement of 1989 marked the beginning of the end of the fighting.

Genuine smile

First time I go to the street and shoot portraits up close. I'm very shy when it comes to approaching people. Nerjess is an 8 year old street beggar, she was asking for money, at first she was shy, but soon enough she was comfortable around us. What struck me the most is how genuine her smile is. She was so charismatic, couldn't take my eyes off of her. Hope I did her justice with this photo. Photo taken in Bourj Hammoud - Beirut Only thing I did for this photo, is make it Black & white. It was not even cropped.

Beirut, Lebanon. I was invited to an arab-catholic wedding in Damscus along with my girlfriend and a couple of friends. We made the journey and stayed for two weeks visiting Lebanon in the process. Tuesday afternoon in Beirut. In the centre of town an abandoned building left from the war rose up like a tombstone towering over the city. Apparently a good spot for snipers it had been left just in case. Quote by Leonardo da Vinci. recommended.

Damaged during the Lebanese Civil War (1975 to 1990), the Beirut Holiday Inn stills stands as a terrifying reminder of war; the curtains and wallpaper of the hotel rooms are still visible. Although Beirut is very westernised, especially in comparison to it's neighbour Syria, it is not difficult to find evidence of past conflicts.
