The bicyclists in the photo are going northbound (or northwest bound) in a 14-foot shared bike-bus lane. It acts very much like a double bike lane up an incline and allows faster commuters to bypass slower commuters. This is the popular Milwaukee Ave bike bus lane over the Kennedy feeder ramp at Ohio St. Very busy during the afternoon peak period. From 2003 to 2008, this street has experienced a 377% increase in the number of weekday bicyclists.
