Sabua Resort, Thailand, these men are waiting for the women to finish their meal preparation. This outdoor kitchen was used during the construction process and these workers are done building for the day. Hui-Chen was the only woman invited to sit and take a meal with the men, because she is a foreign guest. The women eat the leftovers.

This man and his son are piling dirt on their land to make it higher than their neighbors. In Thai culture, higher land means you are better somehow. Now that people have a bit more spending money than in the past, one of the first things they typically do, is some kind of display that means they are rich.

I fried some raw peanuts in hot oil at the Sabua Resort. They got a bit darker than I would have liked, but nevertheless, they were really good. That Pepsi is spiked with Sang Som Thai rum (the bottle was removed because it was empty).

Sabua Resort Thailand, this is a smoker that I designed and had built locally. The villagers are trying it out for the first time. This in fact, may be the first time that a Texas style wood smoker was used in such a remote area.

These girls were playing dominoes, and they didn't want us to see that they were gambling! Look closely at the box in front of the girl on the left and you will see 20 Thai baht notes.

Sabua Village, Thailand, mother told this kid to get her a chicken for dinner. These free range chickens are tasty but a bit tough, so they are better suited for soup or grilling.

This baby was looking everywhere _but_ into the camera! It took several minutes to get him to actually look so I could capture this shot.

The vehicle is called a tuk-tuk (sounds like took took) and is a common mode of transportation in the villages and cities as well.

This home, although in Thailand, looks more like what you would find in Laos. There are no walls to speak of, just mats.

This was my bungalo on this trip. I've been to the resort at least a dozen times. This is a new, larger cottage.
