El Muallaqa Church / Hanging Church (エル・ムアッラカ教会 / ハンギング・チャーチ) ローマ時代の門に吊るようにして建てられたので、「ハンギングチャーチ」とも呼ばれています。 毎日何度も大音量でイスラム教のお祈りを聞き、生活はすっかりイスラム教のサイクルに染まっていますが、街ではキリスト教会(主にコプト教)も結構よく見ます。肩身が狭いのかと思いきや、国民の10％というからかなりの率ですね。 私たちのガイドさんもキリシタンだそうです。今回のフリータイムになる前にお別れでしたが、新年を迎える準備でこれから教会に行くそうです。
