Jessie and I had booked ourselves into a B&B where we'd stayed 2 years ago in the lil' town of Öregrund where I used to spend my summers. Problem was when we got up there the place was abandoned and there was nobody around. A few phone calls later, turns out we were the only guests that weekend and the guy who was supposed to let us in had been in an accident! Thankfully they'd been nice enough to rebook us to another place in town which after a little cajoling ended up being flipping sweet. But at first we were damned confused.

Öregrund, Sweden. Mny wealthy people from Stockholm buy summer homes here. The locals dislike that because they don't participate in local affairs and then when they sell a few years later want to make a big profits, causing prices to soar and squeezing out the young local people from buying....I guess those young people need to go to Stockholm to make some money...

We ended up playing some scrabble while waiting for someone (anyone!) to let us into the B & B we were supposed to be staying in in Öregrund. That is until we discovered that the person who was supposed to be letting us in had been in an accident and they'd rebooked us in another place. Still, I totally think wheelie should be an acceptable scrable word.

So as mentioned, we didn't end up staying at the B & B we'd planned on staying at on account of an accident and other weird stuff. BUT after a bit of worry we ended up instead in the bridal suite at another place in town. This lovely little bench was right outside and was the site of us sitting around and doing a hole lotta frickin' nothing.

Jessie ponders the many varied and protected by glass options at Systembolaget, the state run liquor store in Öregrund. It's like if you had a pharmacy that dispensed booze. It's kind of amazing. I mean unless you live there and it's the only way AT ALL that you can get alcohol and it has bank hours and is closed on Sundays.

I was shocked! Appalled! to discover that the mini-golf course that had been a pivotal part of my Öregrund summers was all of a sudden no more. Except for this little patch of dirt with a power cable sticking out of it, you'd be hard pressed to ever think that .
